Vietnam Manpower Sends Over 35,900 Workers Abroad in Q1 2024
In the first quarter of 2024, Vietnam sent more than 35,900 workers abroad under contracts, as reported by the Department of Overseas Labour under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs (MoLISA). Japan and Taiwan (China) continued to be the leading destinations, while other markets included South Korea, China, Singapore, Romania, Thailand, Macau, Saudi Arabia, and Hungary.

In 2023, Vietnam exceeded its target by 33.3%, with over 159,000 workers going abroad, marking the highest number in the past decade. MoLISA has been focusing on non-profit programs and providing recruitment information, especially in disadvantaged communes. The ministry has also been negotiating with countries like South Korea, Germany, and Australia to expand labor markets.
For 2024, MoLISA aims to send 125,000 workers abroad, with a target range of 120,000 to 143,000 workers annually, contributing remittances of around $3.5-$4 billion. The government has also issued a plan to strengthen leadership on overseas labor issues, focusing on law observance and better coordination mechanisms to address worker-related concerns.
Vietnam Manpower continues to play a pivotal role in facilitating overseas employment opportunities, ensuring a stable flow of workers to meet global demands.
