Labor Export: A Golden Opportunity for Dak Nong Residents to Achieve Sustainable Poverty Reduction
Unlike in the past, thanks to effective communication efforts, many people in Dak Nong Province have shown increasing interest in working abroad. This activity not only provides workers with high incomes that can lead to rapid and sustainable poverty reduction but also serves as an effective method for improving the quality of the workforce.

Labor Export Achieves 301% of the Annual Plan
In recent years, the Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs (DoLISA) of Dak Nong has focused on promoting labor export programs. First, the department introduced reputable companies that collaborated with local authorities to recruit workers.
Along with these activities, the department also increased efforts to spread information on government policies, workers' rights, and responsibilities before going abroad for work.
In 2023, the department coordinated with local districts and cities to hold 8 training conferences aimed at enhancing the capacity of officials involved in sending workers abroad on short-term contracts. These programs targeted 770 village heads, neighborhood leaders, and representatives of local associations. The department also organized 2 courses on entrepreneurship support for 360 students in vocational education institutions.
In particular, the department printed 5,000 leaflets to promote employment policies, vocational training, and labor export opportunities to local communities. The Provincial Employment Service Center provided legal consultations and job placement services to 13,033 individuals. The center also participated in 36 job fairs that attracted 6,802 attendees across various districts and cities, promoting labor export programs and vocational training.
Through these communication and consultation activities, workers gained a better understanding of labor export policies and how such programs could offer an effective pathway to escape poverty. These efforts helped locals recognize that labor export is a key policy endorsed by the Party and Government and a reliable route for poverty reduction.
As a result, in 2023, Dak Nong exceeded its annual labor export target, sending 602 workers abroad for short-term employment, achieving 301% of its goal. The workers found jobs mainly in Japan (474 people), Taiwan (China) (78 people), South Korea (37 people), and other countries (13 people).
Labor Export Linked to Poverty Reduction
Mr. Hoàng Viết Nam, Deputy Director of Dak Nong's Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs, stated that in 2024, the department aims to send over 200 workers abroad on short-term contracts, including 30 workers from poor and near-poor households, ethnic minorities, families with revolutionary service, and those whose agricultural land has been reclaimed. These individuals are eligible for government support as part of the national labor export policies.
For poor and near-poor households, government financial support ensures that workers’ incomes remain stable. Upon returning home, they will have saved a substantial amount of money, which they can use to invest in local businesses, improve their income, and achieve sustainable poverty reduction.
"After working abroad, laborers not only earn a high income but also gain opportunities to improve their skills, work ethics, and legal compliance. Sending workers abroad is a rapid and sustainable poverty reduction strategy," Mr. Nam added.
Summary:
Labor export in Dak Nong has become a key tool for poverty reduction, enabling locals to secure stable, high-paying jobs abroad. In 2023, Vietnam Manpower from Dak Nong significantly exceeded labor export targets, with workers primarily sent to Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea. The provincial government aims to send even more workers abroad in 2024, including those from disadvantaged backgrounds, supported by government policies. The success of this program contributes to the sustainable reduction of poverty and the improvement of workers' skills, paving the way for long-term economic development in the region.
