Australia to Recruit Workers for Meat Processing, Monthly Salary of 60 Million VND
The Overseas Labor Center is currently recruiting workers for Australia in the field of meat slaughtering and Halal meat processing, offering a monthly salary of approximately 60 million VND.

On December 23, the Overseas Labor Center (Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs) announced the recruitment of workers for a program based on a Memorandum of Understanding between Vietnam and Australia. This initiative aims to support Vietnamese workers in the agricultural sector in Australia.
The first batch of recruitment is for 30 workers in the meat processing sector. The positions include 15 workers for Halal meat slaughtering, with the remaining 15 for meat processing roles. The contract will last for 4 years. The Australian company is particularly looking to hire 15 Muslim workers for Halal slaughtering roles, who will receive training according to Halal practices, while the other 15 positions will be for meat processing.
Halal Standards:
Halal refers to products or actions that are permissible for Muslims. Specifically for meat, Halal regulations prohibit pork or any products made from pigs, and only grass-fed animals are considered Halal if slaughtered according to Islamic guidelines.
The general program requirements are for workers aged 21 or older at the time of visa application, in good health with no disabilities that would affect mobility.
Candidates must meet a minimum English proficiency score from one of the following tests:
- IELTS overall score of 4.0 (unless higher requirements are set by Australia).
- PTE Academic total score of at least 30 across all four sections.
- CAE total score of at least 147 across all four components.
The validity of the English proficiency certificate is 12 months for scores below 5.0 for IELTS or 36/90 for PTE Academic, and 24 months for higher scores.
Additional Requirements:
For this specific Australian meat processing job, there are higher standards, including:
- Candidates aged 21-35.
- Physical fitness to carry 15-30 kg.
- Exposure to temperatures ranging from 10-35°C.
- No mandatory vocational certificates, but having one will be an advantage.
Workers will start at Level 1 with a basic salary of over 26.5 AUD (1 AUD = 15,900 VND) per hour, working at least 38 hours per week and paid weekly. Overtime is a common part of the job, and workers will be asked to work additional hours as required.
Costs and Fees:
The Australian employer will cover a minimum of 300 AUD for airfare and recruitment costs. Workers will be responsible for:
- English language course fees (if needed).
- Accommodation, transportation before departure.
- Travel expenses to work locations in Australia.
- Temporary work visa fees, passport costs, health checkups.
- Other fees as per Australian regulations.
If the employer requires compensation for damages caused by workers, the Overseas Labor Center will require candidates to provide a guarantor for the contract before departure.
Application Process:
The center received 50 applications on December 24 and will review them, conducting interviews if necessary. The final selection will be made by the Australian company.
The Overseas Labor Center advises applicants to submit their applications directly at the center’s headquarters or the provincial Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs. The center also warns workers to avoid online intermediaries or false recruiters posing as agents for jobs in Australia.
Summary:
Vietnamese workers from various regions can now seize the opportunity to work in Australia’s meat processing industry, specifically in Halal slaughtering and meat production. This program offers significant employment prospects with competitive salaries, providing a chance for many individuals to improve their livelihoods through Vietnam Manpower initiatives. As always, applicants are advised to be cautious and deal only with official channels to avoid scams.
