More than Half of Vietnam’s Labor Exports Go to Japan

 Japan accounts for over 58% of the total 70,000 Vietnamese workers sent abroad in the first half of the year, according to the Overseas Labor Management Department.

At a press conference on June 20, Mr. Phạm Viết Hương, Deputy Director of the Department of Overseas Labor Management under the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs, stated that Japan alone had received nearly 40,600 workers. Taiwan followed with more than 27,300 workers, South Korea with over 5,500, and China with 1,081 male workers. Canada received 39 workers as it is currently pushing forward with negotiations.

Japan has been receiving Vietnamese laborers for over 30 years in various fields, with contracts ranging from 3 to 5 years. Just a week ago, both sides agreed to increase the number of trainees in the caregiving sector, with an expected 40 workers this year and 500 workers over the next five years. The new agreement expands both the recruitment group and the conditions for sending workers, as Japan aims to increase the number of workers in large hospitals.

Mr. Hương mentioned that in the future, his department plans to explore new labor markets and expand into Europe, due to the better working conditions and higher income opportunities. Many countries, particularly in agriculture, are in need of labor.

The EPS program for sending workers to South Korea has set a record this year with nearly 45,000 registrations, three times the target, making it the highest number in 20 years. The Korean language proficiency tests were held in four cities: Hanoi, Thanh Hóa, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City from March to June.

Currently, more than 600,000 Vietnamese workers are employed in 50 countries and territories, sending back about 4 billion USD in remittances each year through official channels, not including other informal routes.

Australia to Recruit Workers for Meat Processing, Monthly Salary of 60 Million VND

 The Overseas Labor Center is currently recruiting workers for Australia in the field of meat slaughtering and Halal meat processing, offering a monthly salary of approximately 60 million VND.
